Embrace your inner glow
Jun 27, 2018
It’s been a harsh winter and I’d like to think that, if there is any justice, a great summer complete with all the benefits of getting out of doors more, is on the way. Many of us will think of how to get that summer sun kissed look but because (a) there are no guarantees of sun and, (b) when it does show its face, we must be so careful about being safe in the sun, I think it’s wise to have a plan B in place.
Many people turn to tanning products to get the sun kissed look without sun or sunbed. But even here care is needed as many of the mainstream tanning products are so full of chemicals that, when you consider that what you put onto your skin inevitably passes into your bloodstream, you might feel it best to avoid them.
Don’t be shy about enhancing your natural glow. Our favourite natural product is an organic tanning range made from cacao, flower essence, chamomile and all things natural and organic. The pioneering entrepreneur who developed these products decided to research the ingredients used by many varied brands, before blindly accepting their claims. She says it only took her a few minutes to decide not to use their products anymore.
After all, our skin is our largest organ, and much of what we put on it is absorbed into our bloodstream. She developed a market leader in natural tanning and it has become one of our favourite summer products. It is possible to achieve a healthy glow and a bronzed sheen without exposing yourself to harmful UV rays.
Independent health food stores carry great ranges of natural tanning products and natural based sun protection creams. Our staff will give you the best advice possible on their safety and benefits. Our extensive experience with natural based brands gives us confidence in their ability to offer effective UV protection while providing a safe option for people with allergies, intolerances and sensitive skin.
Don’t forget that most skin types can top up their vitamin D reserves with just ten minutes unprotected sun exposure. After this, the best advice is to follow the cautious route and use natural based sun-creams and make sensible decisions with shade and clothing.
Drink lots of water or iced herbal teas. Use plenty of cold pressed plant oils like flax, hemp and nut oils with your salads, pastas and favourite grains. Ask at your local food health shop if a beta-carotene supplement might be advised.
Home or away, there will be sun. Enjoy it while it lasts. Make natural decisions. Choose quality natural products. Visit your local health food shop for best in summer foods and natural based creams.
